The Photobook Award 2023 will be granted for a a high-quality fine art photographic book published in 2023. The winner will be granted an award worth 2,000 €, and finalists will receive 500 €.
The authors must be Finnish citizens or permanent residents of Finland. If the book has several authors, at least half of them must be Finnish citizens or residents.
The publisher and/or printing house can be foreign and the book does not need to be in Finnish language. The book is required to have an ISBN number and the edition needs to be at least 200 copies.
You can participate by filling the online form between the 8th of January and 4th of February 2024 and then delivering two copies of the book to the Finnish Museum of Photography by Sunday 4th February 2024, 6 pm, with the a printed copy of the submitted application form.You can either deliver the books directly to the Museum’s reception or send them to Tallberginkatu 1 G, 00180 Helsinki via mail. The books need to be appropriately packed and the package must include a printed copy of the submitted application form. The books will not be returned to the participants.
The finalists and the winner will be announced in March-April 2024. On March 8th, 2024, the retrospective exhibition of Daido Moriyama opens at the K1 of the Finnish Museum of Photography, curated by Thyago Nogueira, who will select the winner of 2023. Nogueira is the Head of the Contemporary Photography Department at Instituto Moreira Salles, Sao Paulo, Brazil and editor of ZUM photography magazine.
